At the end of 2021, Club Jupiter partnered with Willerby to style up a new Willerby Brookwood caravan three ways. This Palm Springs caravan styling by Anna Hart is just one result. Check out our full post on how to style a Willerby caravan three ways for more.
As a travel writer, Anna took inspiration straight from her trips around California, Arizona and Texas, bringing to life a bohemian desert modern aesthetic with sunset pink, cactus-green and natural raffia hues. You’d be forgiven for thinking this setup was straight out of Joshua Tree (ignoring the grey sky in the background, of course). Anna wanted to create a calming retreat that was perfect for writing a column, reading a magazine or researching for articles. Here’s how she did it….
The neutral palette of the Willerby Brookwood was already a great base layer for the Palm Springs tones that Anna had in mind for her caravan styling. She chose a calming colour scheme of pinks, greens, creams and taupes to add some personality to the space. The pale blue sofa acted as a starting point and the grey curtains were swapped for a taupe linen set to bring those dreamy desert vibes.

It wouldn’t be a suitable Palm Springs bolthole without the help of some greenery to bring a little life into the space. Anna mixed up real and faux plants in cement, concrete and bamboo pots for a bohemian feel. If you have a spare shelf or surface, dot a few plants around and see how they make you feel – we’re sure that they’ll bring you all the good vibes! Dried flowers are also a great way of bringing colour and texture to a space, without having to buy a new bunch every week. The dried pink palm spears used in this scheme are perfect for adding a pop of colour that’s totally in keeping with the theme.

When you pick a fairly neutral colour scheme, it’s vital to add in texture to ensure the space doesn’t feel flat. Think about rugs, cushions, throws, ceramics and wall hangings. Anna chose jute and raffia cushions in neutral colours as well as some woven patterned cushions to break up the look. The woven wall hanging also adds a point of interest – bonus points if you try your hand at making your own.

The majority of caravans have an entirely open plan space for living and the Willerby Brookwood is no different. It features a living room, breakfast bar, dining area and kitchen within its main quarters, so it was important for Anna to consider the flow of these spaces. In her Palm Springs space, she joined the seating areas by using a pink sheepskin throw over both sections and using greenery all around. The jute rug is small, but it helps to break up the floor and add in a new texture.

If you’re taking your inspiration from somewhere specific, like Joshua Tree, it’s important that your styling reflects that. For example, the sideboard here was styled with a psychedelic print by Skeg, vintage vinyl and American architecture books – all things that wouldn’t look out of place in a real Palm Springs retreat. Choose your theme and run with it!
